Walkers is a British snack food manufacturer mainly operating in the UK and Ireland. The company is best known for manufacturing crisps (potato chips) and other non-potato-based snack foods. As of 2013 it holds 56% of the British crisp market. Walkers was founded in 1948 in Leicester, England by Henry Walker, and in 1989 was acquired by Lay's owner, Frito-Lay, a division of PepsiCo.

A former employee said this in a review at Indeed website: "Once we got a new facility and a big change in management everything turned into a big joke at Pepsico. They definitely show favoritism if you’re a brown noser, the job is for you. They love the little snitches over the people who actually do the work which in my opinion is sad. Don’t be that person who produces tons of production here and think you’re gonna get somewhere. They’ll get rid of you any second they get a chance".

"The Cayman office is dysfunctional, at best. Poor leadership. Fear and blame is the name of the game and no-one is prepared to take responsibility, for anything. Favouritism and internal politics have resulted in a hostile working environment, where staff turnover is high. As a result, most systems and procedures are in disarray, which is compounded by old tech, a general lack of planning and direction, especially for lower level staff."

"I worked for Walkers and couldn't take it anymore. I worked in the Dublin office full time. - Senior Management are terrible. They are horrible people to work for. Note how I didn't say 'with'. There is no equality in the office at all. They don't care about their staff, they treat you like dirt and they get involved in office gossip through IM. - The 'HR' department consider themselves to be of a very high standard however, before they offer you support they have already decided they don't like you because of this. - Walkers has a very poor moral. The staff there are all depressed and undervalued. - Some staff are over-valued and favoured. If you are not this person, or like them at all, you are not considered an important part of the team. - Over-all the office is extremely gossipy."

"- management only looks out for who they like - environment is very bias and many staff are unhappy - there is no room for growth unless you are a favorite and get on well with senior managers - They have a name amongst the locals as a good firm to work for, but they do not treat the locals well. - Young Caymanians are stuck in basic positions for years because there is no room for growth - In many cases probations are extended so it’s easier to get you out the door if your not complying with things their way"


"Management needs to learn how to manage. They write all these polices but only enforce them when it's beneficial to the firm. Bullying goes on all the time, but there is no one to enforce it as you can see it happening in the HR Department and amount the Partners to Lawyers. Management seem blind to the decline in culture and moral, or too interested in making money to care. There are no succession plans, little effort to grow and train Caymanians on all levels. Anyone who complains about anything is labeled a trouble maker and suddenly written up and put on "performance reviews". There is no transparency in the bonus and review process."

"Walkers does not value their employees, they say they do but you are yesterdays news almost as soon as you start working there. They are consistently hiring new employees to push old employees like it is a game. I have seen this done to attorneys all the way down to the back office staff. They have a really hard time keeping good employees because their theory is there is that there is always someone better at your your job. Fortunately other law firms in the area have hired the “old” news staff and are becoming very successful because of these great staff Walkers loses. There is no upward movement in the organization and the same game applies that they will go out of the way to hire people instead of promoting within. In my case I worked there for over 4 years and trained another staff member who eventually became my boss. When I was offered a new position at another company I was treated like I didn’t exist. Last but not least make SURE you negotiate your salary well because you will not be making any more than that amount period...."

"I accomplished a lot when working at Walkers, implemented a PM program, updated equipment, trained maintenance personnel. The facility was old and presented a lot of issues that needed to be dealt with on a daily basis. The same with the equipment. Limited to a very tight budget for maintenance and repair."

"Just had to sit through an advert where somebody eats crisps and whispers "This is so good" and "Get in my mouth" ... The crisps are great but I won't be buying Walkers ever again after that absolute tripe"

"Over the past couple of months every multi pack of walkers crisps that I have purchased, have contained 2/3 PACKETS inedible due to air leak in the individuals bags. The main outer bag is still airtight, yet the individual bags inside are not. I understand that faulty production line on odd purchase. However, this is now a regular occurrence."

"Recently had some salt and vinegar crisps and they didn’t taste anything as good as they used to and were as stale as anything. also the bag wasn’t even half full which is a rip off... I could eat a whole bag in one mouthful... such a shame as such a well loved crisp company in the family"
